Can anyone please, please recommend a tried and tested glue suitable for repairing ? (Is hot melt suitable ?) Guest barclayrob Posted July 2, 2009 Share Posted July 2, 2009 Does anyone know of a good fitter / hood supplier in the West Norfolk area ? i.e. King's Lynn / Peterborough / Norwich ? Re hoods. what was the original (N reg 1996) fitted with - would it have been mohair or vinyl or something different ? The one on at the moment is vinyl and could probably do with replacing soon anyway ? Is removal and re-fitting a nightmare or do-able by an ameteur ? Guest StarLoc Posted August 16, 2009 Share Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) I fitted a roof a few weeks ago, dhl had wripped the corner from the frame a bit, the corner by the rear window were it goes onto the frame, the first 3 inch of seam was ripped off I work making glue ( so this kind of sounds like an advert ) , we make all sorts of glues so i headed to the datasheets and came up with using 2 we make for the repair one called flexy cyano , a black coloured superglue that contains rubber so it stays flexible and a moisture cure glue called x-zel , it takes some time to set ( overnight) but is completely flexible when set , i filled the area were the vinyl met the frame inside with the flexible moisture cure glue and tacked the outside with the flexy cyano to hold the seam over the edge tmaking it look neat and tacking it till the other glue set , i did this with the roof open, but ended up with it up at just before 90 degrees till the vinyl went in the correct position without holding or pulling too much while i tacked it in position this will stay on for good, it has only been on on for 3 weeks so far , but i know it wont fail as weve tested it for use in parts like this in the lab and sold it for similar in the past Edited August 16, 2009 by StarLoc Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
