Guest animal
Hi All... (Revised) ... Have a weird problem with me car, when driving along it occasionally hesitates on low revs, it does not do it all the time but when it does it suddenly just clears itself when I put my foot down, I’ve replaced the plugs & HT leads, cleaned the air filter as I have a Piper cross one fitted and checked for leaks and splits but found none, swapped the MAF sensor with another one but no joy, cleaned the throttle body and injectors out with some carb & injector cleaner and added some additive to the fuel to clean the system out. I've disconnected the battery and removed the ECU connections for about 15 mins to cleared it and then reconnected it, I’ve checked the electrical connections for damp and cleaned them where I thought they might need it. The only slight change I found was when I replaced a damaged connector going to the Lambda (Oxygen) Sensor as it was melted (the plastic female connector that joins the sensor to the car) .. And this did help a lot but its still doing it but not as intensively. Could the lambda sensor be the problem? And would it cause this condition?.. Your help would be very much appreciated in this guy's & Girls as this is driving me crazy not being able to find the cause ... :icon_cry: Sorry didn't have time to revise last post when I made a bugger up so wrote it out again with changes .. :wow:
Guest charlie74
seeing as the lambda directly affects fueling i would be tempted to recheck that, seems you have replaced everything else,, possible coil pack? not sure if you have one or not
Guest animal
seeing as the lambda directly affects fueling i would be tempted to recheck that, seems you have replaced everything else,, possible coil pack? not sure if you have one or not yes I think I'm going to have to invest in a new lambda sensor, have replaced the coil pack aswell but forgot to mention that in previous post, Have been reading up on the lambda sensor and tried getting as much information as possible as the haynes manual don't really give you much info on the subject, neither does it state anything in the faults section of the manual regarding it being the possible cause, is was not until I went on ebay to find out how much one cost that I noticed some of the possible faults relating to the sensor was printed and there near on identical to mine .. Increased tailpipe (exhaust) emissions Increased fuel consumption Hesitation on acceleration Rough idling LoL was wondering why I was using so much fuel anyways thanks for the reply charlie, and lets hope when i replace it it sorts out the problem, will keep you all posted! Guest animal
Ok all it's definitely the lambda sensor/probe ... Had a little tinker with it (Removed it to Inspect) and now me car wont even accelerate, It still ticks over ok but that’s it! Any throttle whatsoever and it just goes into Skippy the kangaroo mode :drive1: So for all you out there that may encounter the symptoms I’ve described and have checked all the other possible causes then look no further for the answer! :icon_salut_gb:
Escort Cabriolet Club
I had a rough tick-over and hesitation on 4000 - 4800 RPM, no idea exactly which one sloved the prob but I put on a brand new MAF and Idle Control Valve combined with a full service, runs sweet now !!! Guest animal
Well my new ngk lambda sensor cost me £49.00 but iv'e seen them on ebay a little cheaper. Car now runs sweet, I think you have to give the car a little warm up first though just so it can level itself out
