hi...have a mark 5 escort..droped 40mm..running on old voodoo 2's with 17...keep breaking the bush bearing every month...the little ones between strut mount and shock plate...(think only mark five had this stupid idea!)

although only £5.00 each at fords..great pain droping strut- changing bush every month

anyone know where 2 get poly ones...tried net and flowflex...no one seems 2 do this.

dont want to change setup on car..just uprate the small bush...no mark 4 doesnt hae this problem.

any help would be much appreciated and favors do in return...

chris.

thats wierd. is it only the one side? you got bad chamber or something? mk6's have the same design. never in my life knackered one.

why don't you give area-six a ring, see what they say about it.... or pro-flex. think thats the same as de-flex. try search for both anyway.

area six do uprated wishbones and suspension parts so give them a ring first. but can't see why your destroying them. this might sound stupid, but have you deffo got them fitted correctly?

thanks 4 the replys guys...

thats what i thought...had i put them not on straight...upside down..(makes a difference)...but no...they seem to crack...gone through 4 in last month...

thought it was leaky/defective shock causing prob...or bump stop...so changed all...still happing on both sides...

will give those companys a ring...will let u know on outcome...

Hey chap, have you got a shock and spring kit? or just springs? are they a stiff spring or a soft spring? are you sure you have it lowered 40mm and not 50 or even 60mm?

that really shouldn't be happening. bad design, but abit worrying to keep going through them like you are

hi steelcabby..

having brought the car of the bay of e a few months back, so....seems it normal set up on mrk5..ie (sames as breakdown in haynes manual)..but with smaller spring only..droped to around 50mmm.

took the original bearing spacers off for a while when they kept breaking...wasnt good idea as metal on metal grinding...

replaced as now every month keep cracking..

now this isnt the correct setup..but this was how i brought

the car...dont want to spend £000's on kit so looking for polybush to replace this spacer bearing..

replaced shocks..mounts..droplinks and one wheelbearing..as all these wernt in great condition..

know all the trouble people have with lowered cabbys, and most go back to original setups..

just want to come up with another idea...

this really should work..as only changes springs and wheels..yes think its a bad design...

any advice woul be much appreciated.

chris
