Guest ukchopper1
heres a problem that i have had since i got the cab. the fuel gauge reads the wrong way round? when its full it empty???!! when its empty its full???? now the bloke said must be the wires the wrong way round!! i thought sort of makes sense. so i swapped the wires round and the gauge just goes to the top regardless of how much fuel there is. any susgestions ??? Guest dalison
Right then. put it on some axle stands or even better reverse the back end onto some ramps. On the left hand side of the tank where the wires fit is the tank sender unit. You should be able to get in with a large screwdriver without taking the rear part of the exhaust off. If you look where the wires connect you can see its round. You will see some gooves on the round part of the unit. Tap the groves with a hammer and the screwdriver anticlockwise. Give it a spray with WD first. It should unscrew. The Sender unit should now pull out. Plug the wires back in and turn on the ignition and move it up and down while someone watches your fuel needle. Obviously the float on the sender unit should fall to the bottom of the tank when fitted.(needle will read zero) Move the float up and should show full. If your needle still does the same then it is for the bin. It sounds like someone has fitted it upside down. But then again i could be wrong. But nonetheless it only takes 5/10 minutes to check. Put the unit back in and tighten the grooved circle retainer. By the way, before you start doing it carry a gallon of fuel. Run it dry, put in the gallon. Atleast you wont get covered in petrol. Good luck. Let me know. Daza
