Guest annie
Hi all I have researched around the forums and found the oil to use in the roof pump - thanks for this as the ford place I went to was not able to tell me anything - go figure :wow: Anyway, i saw that filling it with a syringe is the suggested way but what kind of syringe - and where do i find it? In my experience i have only come across syringes when getting jabs or icing a cake - so do you mean one of these?!?!??! Also, where do you poke the syringe to fill the pump?? I have found the little nut thing on the top but mine has had silicone slapped all over it. I am guessing that's the place to undo and fill, not the see-through plastic bit at the end which has the min/max markings. My roof pump level is at min but the roof still seems to be working so I am hoping I can continue to use it and not bugger it up any until i fill it a bit more! Cheers Ann
crashtest
that nut is the place to fill it dont know why it has silicone on it ?. i use a small funnel to put my oil in but i have only had to do it twice in almost eight years. i also use auto transmision \ power steering fluid in mine i was told to use this by a guy who has worked on them from when they were new. Guest sikelse
make sure you check the levels when the roof is down as the oil level rises also top up when its down. only use the recomended oil as some other oils ect can damage the pump and melt the plastic tank. ford still sells the correct fluid.
