soumitss
Hello everyone. Moving my office, twelve people, from Cambridge to a slightly bigger space in Waltham. The lease overlap is one weekend, which means everything has to be out on Friday evening and functional on Monday morning. There are desks, a small server closet, and about thirty boxes of files that cannot go missing. Has anyone done a commercial move on that kind of timeline? Mostly I want to know whether companies genuinely work weekends for this and how far ahead I need to lock in the date.
hydrogenn
Weekend and overnight work is standard on commercial jobs, that is when most offices move, so it is a scheduling question rather than a special favor. Lock the date six weeks out if you can, sooner if your weekend lands at the end of a month when every other lease turns over too. RELOQ Moving Services handles corporate moves around the Boston area and worked a Saturday for us against the same Monday deadline you are facing. Label desks by person, number the boxes by room, then tape a floor plan to the wall at the new place. That single sheet of paper saves an hour of people standing around asking where things go. Photograph every cable run behind the desks before anything is unplugged as well.
