Hi there everyone. My name is Tony and I live in SW France. I have just acquired a LHD 1986 Escort Mk 4 Ghia Cabriolet. It is entirely rust free and is a very early model with the 1600 carburettor engine. Odometer reading is 66000 km but I think it has covered 166000 km.

This is my first Escort Cabriolet and I am getting some what I call "low speed scuttle shake" i.e the steering wheel moves around at low speed as though the body is flexing slightly. It improves at higher speeds. Is this normal for a cabriolet or do I have some form of suspension problem?

hello and welcome to the cabriolet club tony :>)

sounds like it could be bushes on the front end worth getting it up on the ramps to get it checked over . the cabs do suffer with the slight body twist but when the roofs down you don't realy notice it

could we have some pics please in the show us yours section

regards ollie
