Guest El87cabi Posted May 13, 2014 Share Posted May 13, 2014 Hey all, am having an issue with the screen supplied by Autoglass after the screen that came with the car cracked. 1st off, the silver strip that connects the terminal to the element on drivers side is visible and intruding 4-5 mm at bottom rhs of screen with screen rubber in place while strip on pass side is hidden by the rubber. 2nd, Autoglass are telling me my car did not come OE spec with a graduated green tint on the top of the screen while a friend of mine is telling it did. Autoglass are saying the screen is fine whereas I think the 1 I refused is mis manufactured due to the silver strip in drivers side being visible - can anyone (esp All Blue owners) with a pilkington heated screen pls post pictures so I have comparisons/ proof of what the car should be fitted with, the screen that came with the wasn't heated and from what I've found while restoring/repairing it I'm positive this was another bodge/dodgy/cheap arse fix the previous owner made after an accident. Skittles80 Posted May 13, 2014 Share Posted May 13, 2014 Not a fan of auto glass they made a right mess of a windscreen I had fitted and that was on a new car trouble is insurance company's use them I would shop around at a few independent company's had my mk5 done by a bloke called deans,screens near Biggleswade beds neat job quality screen still good nearly 2 years on good luck and didn't break the bank either Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Autoglass have now refused to fit a heated screen without authorisation from my insurers. My insurers, (More Than) are hopefully going to ok it after speaking to them and explaining the situation but i could do with some shots of other All Blue's (pref frt end shot to show age from number plate and caps for ski rack) then angled shot to again show black 'A' pillar caps with heated screen terminals in the same shot to prove it was speced with the model.
