Mk4 Cabby Efi Starting Problem.......pleeeeeeeeeese Help!!!!

Hi guys and gals I need a bit of help before I string myself up...lol

i've got a 1990 xr3i cabby which had a 1.4 lump in it when i bought it. I aquired a 1.6 EFI motor which i fitted this weekend but when i came to start it no joy. It turns over fine but just won't start but if i spray "easy start" in it will start and then run fine, it just wont start under its own steam and i'm baffled.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated 'cos i'm stumped!!!!

When you turn the ignition does the fuel pump prime ( you should hear it buzz) for about 2 secs

id go with fuel pump relay 1st too, i found mine was not the relay but the fuse for the relay circuit. but do things methodically rather than just hacking at this and then that.

Thanks for the replies, turned out to be the EDIS 4 module. I jet washed my engine bay whilst the engine was out and must have knackered it then!! Luckily i had one that came with the engine, swapped it over and car started first time.....RESULT.
