Engine Has Stopped

hi, i've got a mk3 escort 1.6i cab its MFI it was running for about 20mins then stopped so i tried to start again and it didn't do anything. It doesn't even turnover just clicks, i have put another starter motor on it and that hasn't helped. I can hear a loud hissing noise coming from the rear of the engine would anyone know whats up with it. Thanks.

^{Sounds like you got a duff alternator or battery. Failing those that hissing noise could be an electrical short but you'd probably get smoke and burning smell also.}

 

^{You need to charge the battery and get the car started.}

 

^{Once started you need a multi-meter to keep to check voltage. should be be around 13.5v when running}

Its probably to late, as you posted your query 3 months ago. But all i do when that happens, is disconnect the - on the battery for about 30secs, reconnect n it always starts fine then after. The hissing sound is just your fuel pump, nothing to worry about, its a good sign!
