Guest andyw
my mk4 mfi has started to smoke, its worse when i first start it up but is still there slightly when driving.i'm hoping its valve stem oil seals and not rings.if it is rings does anyone know if any of the additives you can buy are any good as a temporary fix until i can get another engine.thanks
Guest Brundish
It does sound a lot like valve stem seals they are easier to fit than rings and cheaper.
Guest murcus
what color is the smoke? white is water = head gasket, black is fuel = over fuelling, blue is oil = rings or valve stem seals, a compression test (dry and wet) should reveal the problem
