What do you all reckon to putting a tow bar onto the back of the 1.6 XR3i Cabby?

A sensible choice or not? More so has anyone else done it already?

Hi we have seen a few Escort Cabs with tow bars fitted and seem to be ok, one thing i would ask is why? what are you thinking of pulling as the Escort cab is not a great tow car

Bigcab had a tow bar on it when it was little cab. Pritty much took it off straight away.

A cab would be okay for pulling a little box trailer or something similar I would have thought. Anything bigger it might struggle.

I was going to pull a simple and small box trailer tent is all, so maybey in the range of 0.5-1 ton's worth of trailer.

in what manor would the tow bar be attached to the Cab, via drilling holes and bolted or by welding it onto the chasis?

I am thinking that maybey a visit to the local garage might be in order to put thte tow bar setup on. Price range of an installation of the Cab's that have it done already?

Mine had one fitted when I first got it. From memory it had a large flat plate mounted the bottom of the spare wheel well that curved back round at the rear valance and attached to a spreader bar that was bolted across the width of the rear valance behind the bumper. I never towed anything with it, the car was in no fit state for the road when I bought it.
