Guest coleser Posted January 24, 2012 Share Posted January 24, 2012 Will be bringing the ol mk6 zetec cab out of winter quarantine soon and want to sort out the revs problem that she went to bed with. On initial cold start, wants to cut out (revs die down) then revs up and down. When warmed up will rev up to about 1500-2000 revs and pulls you along with foot of throttle at them revs. Renewed Sec. air valve (under air intake back of engine) renewed Maf sensor. Throttle sensor and checked small rubber pipes for air leak, to no avail. So where do I try next, cos it`s driving me mad! Help. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest El87cabi Posted January 25, 2012 Share Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) I'd inspect all the wires and plugs on the sensors you've replaced to make sure nothing is damaged, if you don't find anything just try jiggling them when the car is running, could be something as simple as a dodgy repair on an earth wire. Guest kevsbluecab Posted February 2, 2012 Share Posted February 2, 2012 Also have you tried the vehicle speed sensor I think it's called. It's located on the right side of the engine bay I think it goes on the gearbox. There is a connector for it again on the right side of the engine at the top just underneath the air intake pipe. Mine is playing up and it can affect revs as my one is. Whilst driving along in any gear if your at for example 3000rpm and put the clutch in instead of revs dropping to 1000 they stay at 3000 and slowly decrease. If you disconnect the plug and try it the car will still run and if like mine it will fix the problem until you plug it back in. If you need more info il try to explain the location better lol worth a go I Spose other than that the idle control valve but if you have replaced that then that would be ok.
