Hi everyone,

I have a MK3 cab on an A-plate and love everything about the MK3 Escort be it cab or normal hard top,Im doing some tidying and restoration to my cab at my workplace and I get ribbed sometimes about it from a few BMW owning guys there who dont understand real enthusiasm so Im always defending myself by saying the MK3's are classic and that I dont wanna drive the same car as everyone else in my area in Dorset who just drive identical BMW's or Audi's or VW transporters as everyone else round there or just newer cars in general so what I was wondering was if anyone knew roughly how many MK3 cabs were originally produced and how many roughly are still registered today so i can rub it in there faces how few and unique the MK3 cabbies are today,on e-bay I found 1 maybe 2 MK3's for sale, and about the same on pistonheads whereas I bet if you typed in their models of identical looking Beemers there would be about 50 million.

Great, thanks buddy, that is a really interesting site to have bookmarked! There is more Sorn than on the road,I wonder how many of them will ever grace tarmac again?! Not many over a thousand actually on the road though,in a population of 60 million people definitely getting rarer! Also really interested to know how many were originally produced in this country,I dont think it was huge numbers anyway before the MK3 was replaced by the MK4,if anybody has any ideas how to find that out?

Its the time of year. Ours is sorn now and will be out again next year. I'm sure we're not the only ones.
