Guest varnie3i Posted November 5, 2011 Share Posted November 5, 2011 as you may or may not know I've recently got my cab back on the road after 2 years of it being sat dormant. anyway since getting back on the road I've been battling the little electrical gremlins but I'm stumped with this one. My heated front screen has always worked but since getting back on the road it seems to of forgotten how to. I've tried changing the switch with no luck and am now thinking it's a relay or something. has anyone had this problem or does anyone know what relay i need to be playing with? all reply's are appreciated Varnie Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Smiler Posted November 5, 2011 Share Posted November 5, 2011 I've retro fitted a screen to my mk3 and am using mk4 electrics. The loom itself is a very simple affair consisting simply of just the switch and a relay so that could well be the culprit. From memory I believe that the relay is sited on a bracket above the accelerator pedal with the others. The loom itself plugs in to the main loom behind the dash somewhere and I can't remember where but as my car is currently in bits I shall try to remember to take a look. Have you try'd putting a volt meter on the connection to the screen to see if it's getting a supply? It could be the earth starp from the screen. This is located centraly along the top and taps into the shell at the interior light fitting. Could be worth looking at first. Smiler. Guest Lee81 Posted November 6, 2011 Share Posted November 6, 2011 Depending on where your car has been stored the contacts that are on the screen can corrode and the connecting wiring also. I would make sure its not anything else as said before. If it aint you will need to remove the screen and check. I've taken the screen on quite a few and the contacts are in a very poor state.
