Guest AndrewElliott
Hello quite new to this forum just been looking aroun for a while now but iv had a bit of a problem with my escort 1.6 cabrolet mk3 (1985) a wire melted and started smoking in the engine bay. iv traced it going from the batter into the loom tape and back out at the ignition switch at the steering collum. if i disconnected it at the battery end the car wont turn over but i have left it connected there and cut it at the switch side and it starts and everythin seems to work what is this wire actually for. andy

Guest AndrewElliott
the single wire going from the + side of the battery the loom was smoking if disconnected the car wont start. i disconected the yellow wire at the ignition switch (key) that had also melted and the car works fine no problems is this just for the radio. andy
