Guest mk3lesley Posted May 4, 2011 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Hello I'm currently running a mk4 cabby with a 1.8 130bhp zetec engine in it. The water pump is very noisey and needs changing but because the cambelt will need changing at the same time and there's very little room to work in I'm taking the engine out. Dunno if everyones the same as me but if your taking the engine out you may as well have a play around with things. Does anyone know if I can drop a 2.0ltr zetec in place instead of the 1.8? I know I will need a 1.8 water pump to keep the flow in the correct direction but will I need anything doing with the ecu or injection to have it running properly. I think it has a rs1800 fiesta ecu with standard 1.6 cvh efi, I did'nt do the conversion myself so not 100% sure. Any advice welcome, cheers. Guest s6boy1979 Posted May 5, 2011 Share Posted May 5, 2011 You will need the sump and oil pick up from your 1.8 and swap them as the 2.0 wont clear the exhaust. Also the inlet is bigger on the 2.0 and wont clear the bulk head so just swap the inlets and keep the same ecu set up you have. Guest tobys73 Posted May 5, 2011 Share Posted May 5, 2011 we had a 1.8 zetec in a mk3 fiesta and we fitted a 2ltr mondeo head to the 1.8 block and kept the inlet and exhaust from the 1.8. there was a big difference in the power when fitted but we never changed injectors etc but iirc u change to focus injectors to give better fuel supply Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest gavintwopies Posted May 8, 2011 Share Posted May 8, 2011 If you deffo have the rs1800 ecu and set-up under the bonnet then you can run a 2.0 on that management as its about 99% there already as its pgm'd to give the 130bhp and make use of the larger 2.0 throttlebody,MAF & cams so will run very well, but you will deffo need a set of 2.0 injectors from the same type of inlet style as the later focus ones will be no good to you on the older inlet. I'm thinking about doing this on my missus car at some point or removing all the guff and building another car with a 2.0 in it but run the 130 ecu etc on that one.
