Guest Shandy drinker Posted January 27, 2011 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Hi all new here I have a L reg 1.8 si cabriolet and I have a couple of issues number 1 is the internal heater fan has stopped working I have checked the fuse and all is ok Number 2 it was running ok then one night it wouldn't rev above 1500 revs and them started back firing I suspected the airflow meter so got another and hey presto it does the same if I unplug the airflow meter it works fine Has anyone got n e ideas..... Guest Tuft Posted February 1, 2011 Share Posted February 1, 2011 With regards to the interior fan The wires that go into the fusebox often melt. Remove the trim panel above the footwell which contains the fuse cover. Release the metal catch and lower the front of the fusebox (hinged at rear). You will see to the left of all the relays a long multi connector running front to back. At the far end of this connector are the four wires which come from control nob. Two are black/red, one black/green and one black/yellow. It is these that usually melt. If the resistors at the fan blow then it will still usually work at the fastest speed as this uses no resistance. As for revving to 1500rpm I can only think that you may have a faulty sensor. Check crankshaft position sensor (back of engine down near flywheel), cam position sensor (rear left-hand end of cylinder head) and speed sensor (mounted on gearbox where speedo cable exits). It could be that the connection has come out or the wires are damaged through heat build up as two of the sensors wires run next to the heater matrix hoses.
