Only way is to have a look underneath and tug at the cables.

I don't think mk3 and mk4 are the same because i brought a new one from ford and the mk3 version had a different part number

cheers. :@) i take it you,ve fitted one recently? if so was it straight forward?

Have you had a look underneath, you may be lucky

lol. think you brought me good luck lee lol  turns out that non of the cables where broke and one of them had dislodged from the metal bracket under the car.i could do with adjusting the shoes so the hand brake is better.is there a way of doing it without taking the hubs off?

Do it properly then you wont have nothing to worry about plus when you remove the hubs you can inspect your wheel cylinders make sure all is good

i,ll check the hubs on a decent day.cheers all.

  • 4 weeks later...

well the handbrake i thought id sort of fixed has decided to bust again  i dont know why but the handbrake is very stiff to put on and it has yanked the cable out of the holder again. :angry:could the handbrake cable be routed wrong under the car as it rattles on the exhaust and the petrol tank.....i aint had the hubs off the car yet but ive had the car jacked up with the handbrake on to try and turn the wheels.......pass side locked up but driverside did,nt.the cable seams very long as well so could be the wrong type for all i know lol. the more i look at the car the more there is wrong with it.
