Guest JordanXR3i Posted September 4, 2010 Share Posted September 4, 2010 hi all having a problem with my mk4 escort. i have just fitted a new stereo and speakers. stereo has built in amp 50watt x 4 my speakers are 50 watts rms, just some background on what i have installed. problem is, i can play my music loud for about 15 mins while driving along then it "quieten downs" without touching anything, for example be on volume 24 then sounds like its on volume 16 and 16 sounds like 10?? i think it might be the alternator or battery or BOTH!! but wanted to know if anyone could shed some light on it. many thanks Jordan. Guest johnnysash Posted April 22, 2011 Share Posted April 22, 2011 you could be going deaf?!!!!!!!!!! or it is more likely a duff head unit. i doubt its power I used to have a system in my car and it would drain the battery so it would not start before it started sounding different.
