Guest andycab Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 put second hand alternator on a few weeks ago everything been fine but had intermediate battery light cumin on for last to days so today was waiting in car park with cd player and amp on while she was shopping flat battery so got it jumped off and my battery is sort of charged i could go out now and start it up, but just tried leaving the engine runnin and disconnected battery but engine totally cut out would this normally happen? or should it keep running regardless please help before i buy yet another alternator Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
gingergman Posted August 21, 2010 Share Posted August 21, 2010 if you disconnect the battery when its running it will cut out. is the belt on the alternator tight enough? give it a good run to charge the battery, is it a battery that you can take 6 caps out the top and fill with de-ionised water?
