Immobiliser Problem

I have a 1988 Ford Escort XR3i cabby. Last week I tried to start her and discvered that the immobiliser would not turn off. It is a Ford immobiliser. A small dashboard mounted plug with 3 pins. The keyfob transponder (photos attached) has 3 little dimples which, when pressed against the socket, should turn off the immobiliser.

I have contacted Ford and, almost a week later, I still have no answer. Can anyone help. Do I need a new transponder ? Where can I get one ? How much will it cost ?

Cheers

Roy

Check the socket in the dash where you press the immobilisier key into. In particular the wiring. I had a Meta immobiliser on mine similar to yours

Eventaully over time, the continual pushing in and out had caused the socket to twist, in turn causing one of the small wires at the back to become detached.

If in your case, it is not this, try asking a immobiliser/alarm fitter. Not sure you will be able to get those type of key anymore?
