Guest jaan2008
Hi, I've just got myself an MK6 GHIA 1997 in Juice Green and want to restore it back to it's original condition ( Or as Close as). Here are the issues i wish to correct: 1) At the rear it's missing the ESCORT, 16V and FORD badges, could i easily get these off a scrapyard car and attach them? 2) In somebody's infinite wisdom the alloys and front grill have painted a matt black, and unfortunately this is looking a bit tired. Would it be a big job to restore them or paint them up? I'd either want to get them back to silver, or just paint them to make them look better 3) It's got a couple of scrapes as seen in the photos- how's best to remedy these? 4) I've got a feeling the wood trim has also being painted black- Is it easy to remove & change the trim to a 'wood one' again from a scrapped car, or remove the black paint from this? 5) The wingmirror is chipped- Can i get a new plastic off a scrapped one? Do i need to look for cabrio mirrors only? Any help mucho appreciated. Jaan
Guest Feeble
Aww, it's my car's neglected twin! I'd get the black dash trim, looks better than the walnut one. Get some RS2000 rims, they look loads better! Mine are white and look good... Maybe just paint the GTi wheels white? The mirror is a standard Escort unit, but only the cabriolet came in Juice Green, so you'll need to find one off another cabby! And you can't have mine... The scuffs don't look too bad. Don't know anyone in the trade? Shouldn't cost too much to sort out... Escort badges, I'd try and get some new ones, maybe from Ford, maybe from eBay... Or if you've got some real good sticky back plastic, thick stuff, then you can get some from the scrappy! Would take a bit of effort to get it looking perfect! Guest Lee81
Scrapyard for all the bits that are broke or defaced. You may be able to get some alloys there too. Get the sparywork done all at once it will be cheaper that way I've got some 17 inch alloys for sale in gun metal finish. Similar to st170 rims. There on my car in the pic. Mint not a mark on them
