Hi M8..

Where did you get that from,I've been looking for 1 for ages....nice buy.. is it in Vynal or Mohair?

Your question!! there have been 1 or 2 queries in the "club" forums over the last few months regarding

"Full Tonneau's", but from the other angle....."what are these studs on the dash just behind the

windscreen for?"........From what I can gather ,a "Full Tonneau" was an EXTRA available to order

when placing the original order for your NEW CABBY......The factory would then position the FRONT

studs in the appropriate position on the dash......if the cover was'nt specified ,then NO STUDS as

per your car,and mine. If I can get a good one ,my plan would be to find a hood or sail maker and

get them to either supply or fit the required dash studs further back from where the originals should

be(if u don't want to take the dash out)and fit new fittings further back on your cover to line up

with the new dash studs........I'm fairly sure that would work ok without costing much.

Do'es your cover have pockets for the seat backs or would you have to fold the seats forward ?

is there a zip between the dtivers and passenger's seat? to enable the car to be driven with half

of the cover in position over the passenger's side. Are there any fittings attached to the cover

to hold it to the door tops?...........................Perhaps some 1 else may be able to

confirm or disagree with my theory............

All the best M8, hope you manage to sort IT....either way I'd like to know how you get on

Regards Rustler....Sth West France..with hood always down!!!

Cheers for the reply,

Its a vynal one, with matching roof tonneau. was just surfing ebay and saw it, it also came with a wind deflector :-)

Its got the zip down the middle, not sure what you mean by

"pockets for the seat backs or would you have to fold the seats forward?"

but if you take the headrests its fine.

Ill try and take some photos in a bit.

have you got any links to the sites about the studs on the dash?

Regards

RD

Found my camera

the front end of the tonneau, the passenger side has more stud attachments than the drivers

at the back behind in the window part, there is a velcro flap on the top. this is where the ghia/karman symbol is on mk5/6

hooks either side of the hole cut out for the b pillar

T bar on elastic, coming from the cut out for the a pillar

To attatch the cover to the dash you need four Tenax Studs thats to say, screw one end into dash the cover fits to the top of the Tenax , hope thats clear, I got one off E-Bay have't got round to fitting it yet.

es, the studs came with the cover, still not sure if I want to spoil the look of the dash by fitting them, looking at the photos I have still not fathomd out where the Tbar on the elastic goes or where the hooks round the pillar go.

Hi. Relaxediver.

Have seen "brummie's reply about TENAX studs. Do'nt know if it'll be of any help but I see that there are tonneau repair kits on ebay, which include both

male and femail "Tenax" TYPE! studs in the kit......... if your interested there on 260562969631 and 260562969007. Also you may want to try "Basilbears"

STICKY.. in "Replacement Hoods" forum and contact his Hood Specialist .....Creaseycartrimmers.co.uk...who may be able to answer some of your queries..

Meantime best of luck with your "Tonneau" and Windbreak"............Rustler

My mother used to work at a place that trimmed yachts! I had a few poppers replaced on my tonneau cover, and I'm sure she could have supplied the male versions for the dash! They're out there mate, you've just gotta know where to look!

I've looked at those two items one-bay, you only get the press studs for the cover, you will still need to get four Tanex studs to screw into the dash.

If you type Tanex into your search engine you will find any number of suppliers, the ones you want are 20mm long, self tapping.
