I had no antifreeze in little cab because I've been having to top it up all the time over the last few weeks with suspected head gasket failure. With the temp being -4 the engine was a block of ice Saturday morning. Went to start it and pop went the cam belt (which usually bends valves). Bollox Went to work in Merc then spent saturday afternoon removing head, got up sunday morning to fetch new belt, head gasket set and some ANTIFREEZE then spent the afternoon replacing the head with a spare I just happened to have laying around. So go get your water checked. I was lucky, I had spares, Escort headgaskets are cheap and I'm capable of doing the work myself. If I'd done this and had to pay for the work to be done I'd have been into a few hundred pound and prob without a car for a week.
