hi folks, i posted a similiar message up a couple of weeks ago regrading my car being "live" all the time, what i mean is when the keys are removed from ignition, indicators, windows wipers, heater etc still have power.Whenever i park car ive to make sure everything is off or battery dies on me,however, the red light beside he clock is on constant, should it be? it dims when engine is running but bright when off, im just wondering if that is whats doing my battery in,and that is only 4 weeks old.I have a spark coming to have a wee look next week and at 25 quid an hour i would,nt mind having a heads up if possible thanks.

It sounds like the ignition relay contacts have stuck together, so it thinks the ignition is still on, try pulling the relay out to see if everything stops working.

I take it you car is a mk5 , with you saying the LED is next to the clock, The ignition relay should be on top of your fuse box, on the left hand side, third relay back when looking from the fuses, and white i believe, it should have a blue relay sat to its right hand side, hope this helps.
