Hey all,

Bought my first Cabby a couple of eeks ago - in good condition but the Batery keeps running flat - Battery seems ok on test and Alternator is charging.

The only thing i see that could be causing this is that i have noticed the fuel guage is displaying the level all of the time - Now from my RS Turbo days this is not normal.

A - Could this be cauing the drain over a few days?

B - Anything obvious that could be causing it?

C - What next?

Cheers all,

Ramman77/Shaun

it could be the boot light staying on, or stereo/amp connected directly to the battery, or maybe just a old battery thats not holding charge.

and the fuel gauge isn't a problem, mine stays where it is too, but my old e-reg didn't.

Ok i will rule out the fuel guage then - my previous D & E reg Turbos always went to empty when ignition off.

I will check the boot light too......not sure after then, new Battery i suppose!

Cheers lads for the comments.

as i found out b4 i changed my batttery which was kinda old make sure it has batt fluid init

and also if its killing it still u have to remember not to start it when its warm or hot as the rad fan could be running as i have found out

also think abouit getting a heavy duty 1 if you do go the new battery route

Get a multimeter that reads amps. Take one of the battery terminals off and measure the current being drawn from the battery. If its few milliamps or less then its normal get a new battery if ts higher then something is draining it, next step identify which area it is by splitting the power wires coming from the + terminal and repeat the test with each wire individually. If its the one providing fusebox power you then need to go through the fuse box, reinstate the battery terminals, remove each fuse in turn and put the ammeter between its two terminals in the fuse box. If you trace it to one of the fuses the last step is to look at a wiring diagram and check all the items powered from that fuse. Good luck
