Hiya folks

heres the story with the help of a mate i swapped the gearbox in a 1992 mk5 1.6 8v cvh before hand it started off the key.

while doing it my mate snapped the positive off the starter motor so we were like we'll get to that after we're done put it back togher and bumped it. It started and drove fine so we were like ok now on to the starter. The terminal was missing for the unit so we soldered the wire directly onto where it broke off put it all back togher and tryed to start it. It made a clunk like a flat batterey and didnt even turn over nicked the batterey out my mates and and tryed again and same again clunk but nothing!

Another mate came round n had a look he reckoned it was a wireing fault so im stuck could do with a hand if anyone could suggest anything

Need the car on monday for work so any a help would be appreciated!

cheers ebo

try a good jump lead from earth on battery to engine, ie manifold, engine lifting eye, make sure its a good contact, then try to start it.
