Guest TSJ Posted October 10, 2008 Share Posted October 10, 2008 Hi there, I`m a relatively new member of this forum and need some advice about removing and examining the fusebox in my Mk 5a cab. The heater blowers have stopped working. The fuse is ok and I`ve been reading that dry joints are quite a common problem. So I plan attempting taking the fusebox out to see if this is the problem. Is this easy to do (any tips how to would be appreciated), and also will taking the fusebox out in any way make the alarms go off (Ihave both a factory fitted and Cobra alarm) Thanks in advance for any tips/help Tom Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest TSJ Posted October 11, 2008 Share Posted October 11, 2008 Bypass the fuse box mate , put an inline fuse in place of going in the fuse box my escort cos did the same and me mk6 has died as well now , saves loads of hassle ... mikey Hi, thanks for that tip - I was thinking about that. Would you happen to know which cables I should join to on the back of the 3 speed switch ?Certainly sounds easier than trying to look for dry joints. When I lowered the fusebox, it was fairly fiddly to get the front cover off. Then when I managed that, all the fuses dropped out and it didn`t look that easy to get the circuit board out, so I just put everything back together. A quick fix from someone else on the forum suggested using a spare fuse in the fusebox and feeding a wire from there to the fan. However I`m not sure which connection to use on the back of the three speed switch. The quick fix suggestion thought it might be the middle red wire. However on inspection of the back of the 3 speed control there are numerous wires going into the back, and none are coloured red, there are 2 wires coloured black with a red stripe.
