hi, have you got the correct cable? get the clocks out, connect that end 1st then feed gearbox end through the bulkhead and around the back of the engine, if you connect the gearbox end up 1st you end up scuffing ur arms too fu*k trying to get behind the clocks, hope this helps.

Finally... I bought my car home, after 8 weeks in the body shop. Does the cog on my 1989 mk4 xr3i's water pump run via drivebelt or timing belt? Manual mentions drivebelt, but unsure if its referring to my particular engine. I've got the 4 bolts from old pump, but am frightened to withdraw pump, in case it is the timing belt and I mess up the timing. Timing is too technical to even think about, without getting a headache. Can anybody please suggest a site which shows you step by step how to takeout/refit the water pump. Much appreciated. Mandy
the cambelt runs round the water pump, so i wouldnt take the pump off if you cant do timing, will only mess the timing it up.

the compression has been tested and is max, if a rolling road speciaist can find the fault il give that a bash

hi everyone, can anyone tell me what engine "pinking" actuallly is? how its caused and how you sort it?

hey hey, my manifold wont bloody stop blowing, it use to be fine, then i had a full engine rebuild and while running it in it was fine, then had a full powerflow system fitted, was still fine untill run in when i started to drive it much harder, now when its under pressure through exceleration it blows, ive since got through 4 gaskets and had the manifold re-faced in under two weeks, all was well for 4 days, now its blowing again, sounds like a tractor lol. its just so annoying after the amount ive spent on the engine and exhaust system lately, £1440 to be precice lol, so any ideas or suggestions on how to stop it?? thank you!

the rear windows only go halfway down, no way to make them drop fully.
the window mec inside the door proberly has a plastic bit off the end missing, take the doorcard off and have a look when the windows down, while the door card is off there is a bolt what you can ajust up and down that makes the window go up and stop up further into the rubber

i love the look of that dash in your mk4, im very jelous lol, very smart!!!!

nice one mate im going similar route with mine but with some head and cam work, and some extra touches here and there.
that cab in the drive i recognise (blue one with boot facing outwards) is that one that was for sale on passionford as a fire damaged one by any chance?
yeah id recomend head work wiv a kent cam or something, mine is good standard but could be faster lol. that last pic is 2-3 months old, just before i sold the blue one, it wernt fire damaged wen i had it, wouldnt suprise me tho if it was the same one coz it was well ropey!!!
