  1. They are all in the back of the Haynes manual.
  2. IIRC it is a black connector with 4 or 5 pins that goes to the fusebox, then to the starter key switch. Sounds to me that the person has hotwired the same wire loom. It is around 40 cm long.
  3. I had a fuse box, but just recently sold it on ebay. The ECU I sstill have on ebay for it, but a few people have bid on it.
  4. Easy way is to get a hose, and on a dry day, wet the car and then see where the leaks going in.
  5. What is wrong with the wiring?
  6. LOL, it does seem a good idea, although I guess it would weigh a fair bit.

I think it is ultrasonics, the 2 sensors mounted at the top of the A pillar. If for example you leave a dog in the car and put the alarm on, it would go off. You have to press the button twice if you want it to disable it, if you leave a dog in or the windows or roof down as wind would also set it off.

I never realise it could do pre-warn. I know the interior sensors are very sensitive. i.e. hailstones on the roof would set the alarm of etc.

I have the same alarm, I am a bit confused as to what you mean by pre-warn
  10. Could end up being a nightmare job. It is not easy to fit the standard one back in as it is, let alone one from another car..
  11. I did not realise any mk4's went up to J reg, thought they stopped at H reg.
  12. I used stormguard extra thick weatherstrip from B&Q. It costs near £6 and is a 3.5m roll. and seals gaps between 4-7mm thick. I put it on the inner front window rubbers and on top of the roof where the roof touches the windscreen as when I replaced my outer roof it was hard to reattach the clear plastic water channel. It is also black, seems to hold ok so far.
  13. Thanks, it reminds me of something that has plagued mine at a hot start over the years. Completely forgot to check this, plus I have the said part spare, would have to fit it.
  14. I hate the front door rubbers that are attached to the roof, they seem to bend. I been searching for them on ebay but seems it is the rear part ones. I have seen http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-Cabriolet-LH-Inner-Rear-Quarter-Window-Weatherstrip-Genuine-Ford-/350494317584?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item519b16dc10 and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Escort-MK5-6-Convertible-New-Genuine-Ford-rear-quarter-window-weatherstrip-/280936280853?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item41691b7315 not sure if any of them are correct. However in the meantime I have come up with a temporary solution. i did try Tigerseal, but it was too awkward and would have needed a long time for it to dry to gain the required shape. I would try post pics later on.
  15. I smell bullshit, seems the person is listing it as something it isnt. It is just a bog standard 1.6. Person cannot even get the year right as the mk5 shape came out in mid 1990. First ones were on H plate. First ones were delivered around September/October. Person is just waffling to get it sold. It probably is a 1.4
  16. I had bin some 2 months ago, lack of intrest in parts.
  17. No offence, but the car kinda looks butchered.
  18. Also check the wiring from the starter motor to the ignition via the battery, heat soak problem can create a high resistance.
  19. I think the wiring diagram is in the back of the Haynes
  20. I did not realise people still did this, I thought that style was long gone. It still looks good, must have taken ages to do as I remember it was hard for a friend doing it to a more flat shaped mk4 Escort bonnet.
  21. I think you mean QH 'Quintin Hazell' and aparently there ones are not better than the genuine Ford ones. Even in the motor trade they would advise you to get the genuine Ford wishbones 'lower arms' aas many other makes just do not last. The best ones are the heavy duty genuine Ford lower arms for the mk5 Escort van, often refered to as Royal Mail versions. They cost around near £90 though.
  22. The are very few mk5 Escort's with aircon. It was optional. So even finding one to break with the components is very hard.

I have never seen pump repair caps for the VW,where have you seen them? My Tigerseal idea didnt work either - I bloody give up with the thing now.
