  1. Oh dear, I've just looked at the history tutorial, as suggested to me, and it refers to the last models as Mark 7 (i.e. VII) You can now see why I'm confused! Rodney
  2. Thanks the history tutorial clearly states there is a Mark 7 (i.e. Cabriolet III, IV, V, VI and VII) Rodney
  3. Well I'm just puzzled as what a Mark 7 is as it is often referred to? You tell me your 5 has the Zetec then my little theory is shot down! The Wiki site lists 1,2,3,4,5,5b and 6 (ie no 5a)? I think some folk refer to the 5b as a 6 and therefore the last version is a 7. Rodney
  4. I have a 1998 Cabriolet, is it a 6 or a 7? Are the differences because the 5 is sometimes split into 5a and 5b and therefore mine is a 6 or is the 5a sometime just a 5, the 5b is a 6 and therefore mine is a 7? Presumably the last version (be it 6 or 7) had the Zetec engine? Is there a definative answer? Is there a history anywhere of the Escort Cabby? Rodney
  5. Thanks for that but it is my telescopic part that is worn and sticks and I thinkl it will be cheaper to buy a new one for the garage to fit. I'd like a suggestion for one that suits best if possible please.
  6. Can anyone advise on a straight replacement please? Maybe the telescopic part only can be replaced as motor is fine. Thanks.
  7. Had exactly this problem on my Mk6 a while after having new wishbones fitted for MoT. Went to a new small enthusiastic garage and explained the problem to them. They immediatly asked if I'd had new w/b fitted and looking at them and said they are remanufatured items. Fitted genuine Ford parts and problem solved. Evidently remanufactured can be cast from actual w/b rather than a pattern and hence loss of quality control. Rather late but hope this helps.
