  18. Paul's Winter Project Has some of you know i have been spending some time and money on the cab ready for next year, this all started when i asked Andy at Stanford Hall to give me a hand with putting a RS turbo lump in. Foolishly he agreed. After several project meetings (well chatting over a beer) we decided the best thing was to purchase a complete RS turbo and strip it for the running gear and sell the bits and bobs we didn’t need to help fund the purchase. After a few weeks looking we found a 1988 red RS turbo very local in Stoke in nice condition. So we wondered over parted with £800.00 and drive it back to Andy's works, engine was sweet with no smoke or noise from the engine.........once we had put some fuel in it................. We spent the next few weeks stripping the car of engine, RS kit etc selling the parts we wasn’t going to use to get some of the outlay cost back. It was then i had one of my stupid brain waves.................. Andy i said i need to change the goal posts............. I don’t want to strip my wiring loom out because its mint compared to this one. He looked at me and said ok.... I want to run after market management.......... right he said............ yes i said........... Then he told me that the only seasonable way of doing this was to put a Fiesta RS Turbo engine in. Ok i said lets do it........... He then pointed out that none of the MFI gear currently sitting at the side of the car would be any use and told me to go and find a Fiesta RS turbo engine. So a few weeks later and I spotted someone breaking a Fiesta RS up and made him a offer on the engine. 2 days later e picked it up and added another engine to the collection of bits next to the car. I had already spoken with Andy about the kind of performance i wanted to see from the car and he had told me that we could achieve it but it wouldn’t be cheap but he know of a engine shop that would rebuild the engine to the spec we required. So a few days later it was dropped off and work started on the head and block. New Steel con rods and pistons were ordered from Burtons together with new big / little ends and ARP bolts, another £1400.00 This is before any labour work on the engine. While the engine was away we started stripping the old engine out and i asked Andy, can we strip down all teh running gear of the car and replace all nuts and bolts etc....... he looked at me again.... in a Andy kind of way and said of course you can......... So the following weeks we stripped the rear of the car completely out and sent all the bits and bobs off to be sand blasted and re powder coated. I have taken some pics along the way and will try and keep you updated. Performance wise, the car will be running approx 250 bhp with 3 independent maps, normal, track, sprint. Launch control etc will follow shortly..............
