Guest no2lurch
i have been thinking for a while about coverting my mk4 cab to zetec power. i dont want silly amounts of power, and want it as easy as possible as i am not the most mechanically minded. i have read tony's thread on zetec conversions and i have a few questions.... i am planning a 1800 zetec conversion as it seems easy, and as i am not planning to heavily tune the engine, i think there wont be much advantage over the 2.0 zetec. -i plan to buy a whole car so i can test the engine and make sure its ok. so can i just lift the whiole engine (complete with alternator etc) and bolt it to my cvh gearbox and stick it in? -i have a 1600 efi in my cab, so can i just extend the neccessary sensor wires instead of swapping looms? i know i will need the ecu though (a guy i know has done this, but he has no where finished the bodywork yet to take the car for a drive so need to be sure). -where is the best place to get the modded top mount from? Guest no2lurch
i will probably getting an escort due to lack of space and cheapness. hopefully the 130ps engine, but maybe the 105ps version. i forgot to ask... will my current clutch be up to it? escortcabrioletclub
i would advise a escort as less to change ..... yes the efi cluch is the same as the efi depending on engine
Guest no2lurch
what about zvh? putting a zetec bottom end with the cvh efi head be a worth while consideration? if so, which botom end? 1800, 2000?
escortcabrioletclub
zvh is the biggest waste of cash ever to do i think
Guest no2lurch
thanks tony for your help. a few last questions if i may please... -do i need to swap any of the ecu wires round? -i know the later zetec engines were slightly different to the early ones, but what year did they come in? -is it easier to do the swap by lifting the engine and box together or take the engine off the box and leave the box in place on its cross member?
