Bent Roof Bars :(

Hopefully someone can help me out, my Mk4 roof frame has some horribly bent bars on it and I have no idea what they are supposed to look like.

The bars in question are about 2 foot long and are mounted at either end large riveted pivot joint. They mount from the 3 bolt mounting bracket below the rear window to the rear part of the main roof frame. I will get some pics up at the weekend.

They were so bent they had actually snapped the rivets off at one end. Know idea how this happened as it was like it when I bought the car.

I have straightened the bars enough to be able to open the roof but they fall about 3/4" short of the mounting hole when the roof is closed, this makes me think they are still not the correct shape.

Does anyone have any pics of this part of the roof frame as I have been googling like mad with no joy, I think the bars are hidden from sight when the hood is fitted so probably needs someone with pics of the frame mid re-skin or something?

Thanks for looking
