Guest taz1787
All Blue Buying Guide Hmmm where did you see that then that could be the documentation I need lol
Guest gtretroworld
Its here: http://www.escortcabrioletclub.co.uk/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/2-all-blue-buying-guide/ Is yours a genuine se all blue as it shouldnt be to much fuss to give a date as they were only sold over a short duration. DVLA say if you can prove it was within 2 years its possible.
Guest taz1787
yeah I knew about that one but doesn't say to check b piller for chassis number and yes a genuine se500 and yes they built them between 1st jan 1990 and 31st of dec 1990 but dvla won't take it of a q plate unless you can prove a month and year car was built which I can prove with then VIN I worked out but need to link that vin with my shell and only way to prove that is to get proof that karmann wrote the chassis number in marker pen on the b piller of the shell
badger
i thought the vin number was stamped into the floor by the drivers seat if you can still read it mines rusted away.
Guest gtretroworld
These where built in late 89 to may 90 from what ive read mate and sold from march 1990 onwards for a short time. Im told off a local RS nut it will need a VIC check but i havent got that far yet...and only a mail from dvla saying its possible when i asked. I think we could help each other out on this one. Guest taz1787
defiantly only built in 1990 Badger mines on a q plate as no vin by drivers side been welded up put on a q plate in 1990 gtretroworld has yours been put on a q plate yet or not whats the script with yours ?? have a look at your number under the passenger side plastic trim on B piller and you should see a 5 digit code this is the last 5 digits of the vin for yours vin will be one of the following 12 numbers WF0 LXXG KAL LL ***** Jan 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LY ***** Feb 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LS ***** Mar 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LT ***** April 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LJ ***** May 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LU ***** June 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LM ***** July 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LP ***** August 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LB ***** September 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LR ***** October 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LA ***** November 1990 WF0 LXXG KAL LG ***** December 1990 * = Number on car then put these into a vin decoder I used http://vindecoder.eu/ford and all but one will give a month and year but one will give a exact build date this is your orginal vin number hope this helps
Guest gtretroworld
Hmmm 1990 only if thats the case it makes life even easier.... Out of interest taz are you trying to get its original vin back or are you just wanting to put it back on a age related plate? The script is mine was it was stolen recovered in 91/92 and the guy who i bought it registered on a Q...full backed up history from 94 until now 55k but no genuine ID....just strut top Q id I wasnt wanting to chase the vin as it may of been chewy but i think ill try and find these numbers before i send my application off...A age related plate would of done me which they can do as long as the car model was manufactured within 2 consecutive years. Guest taz1787
no as to be a diffinative year as in from August 1989 - july 1990 as this denotes a g reg but the se was jan 90 - July 90 = Greg Aug 1990 upwards as last few sold etc = H reg hence needing a month but its how to prove its the vin to that shell and that's where these numbers come in but as they are hand written in marker pen its hard to prove and just want a age related plate so going to try prove karmann put chassis number on b piller that way I have all evidence I need lol I've wrote to ford and have some letters from ford that says my vin has a build date of feb 1990 mine was the same with the q plate stolen recovered and put on q in 1995 but know other real history but want to put it on age related plate
Guest gtretroworld
Its the build date that matters...if it was registered on a H which few were it was most probably built no later than May 1990 which was when the last SE'S apparantly left germany....this is what i have dug up from the XR owners club but ive only had this a few weeks so its all new to me. If you can manage to match the vin it will be back to how it was but if not they can issue a plate age related but no cherished can be applied. Heres mine: Heres mine....i intend to part strip it for dates on plastics etc as im told it helps although im told the VIC Squad may want a look over it! Guest taz1787
a vic is a vehicle id check hence it being on a q plate this is where the proof is needed as if no proof then will stay on a q plate as its still questionable
Guest taz1787
wind down passenger rear window remove plastic get number mine is 46077 and a mates was 45801 his was 23/02/1990 and mine was 27/02/1990 so depending what your number is depends when it was registered
Guest gtretroworld
Thats what i was thinking regarding vic but im told it will need checking... like i say its all talk what im reading around the net but i did write to DVLA via email and the proof needed is manufacture dates and not registration dates. I will check for this number over the weekend...so is this under that thick rubbery section where the belts fitted?
