hi all ive got a mk4 with a weber 32/34 carb and yesterday it broke down. I got it home and spent the afternoon trying to sort it out, i checked absolutly everything and pin pointed the problem was the jets in the carb so took them out and cleaned them up put them back in. It fired straight into life but stalled as it was doing before, so i gave it a little rev for few seconds then it was fine. anyone got any ideas of what could it be?

I would suspect that the float chamber has an obstruction leading to fuel starvation.

Hence it fills but then runs dry.

However there could be an obstruction anywhere in the fuel system which would cause similar problems.

So do the float chamber first.

Make sure the float is intact and not split otherwise it will sink and shut off fuel.

If that fails look at fuel filter and then fuel pump
