Hi guys,

Well its been just over 10 months now since my head gasket went and I am glad to say that after the head has been removed, skimmed and rebuilt the engine started first time.

:banana_dance: :banana_dance: :banana_dance:

However, as it been sat in the drive for the last ten months the good ole english weather has taken its toll. I knew when i first brought it that it had its problems

Smashed front bumper

Rusted sils

Few rust patches on the doors

Few bodged filling jobs

Split seams on roof (new roof once it passes its MOT)

Split CV boots

Brakes worn

Front springs coroded

Big hole in rear arch

Dent in rear quarter

.................................The list goes on.

Fortunately must of it is body work. Unfortunately I'm an engineer

Anyway as I have said before I only paid £150 for it so I can't grubble to much.

So as it's of the road I thought I would get to it and it get it all sorted as there is no way it will get through it's MOT.

I will be adding new pictures and comments with regard to my progress which will help me keep tabs on I what I have done but also hopefully help someone facing some of the same problems get them sorted.

This is how the car looked when i picked it up last May. I think I had it on the road for six weeks when it overheated and the head warped. Hopefully looking to get it back on the road in a couple of months.

Looking to get enough sorted to get it through the MOT and then get the rest of the cosmetic work done once it's back on the road.

Been looking at the sils recently and found this. Luckily a friend of mine is going to do the welding as I can't weld for toffee.

Put a new fuel filter and idle control valve this week as once the engine was back together it

ran like a bag of spanners.

It intially kept cutting out on start up and I found one of the vacuum hoses off so that sorted that out however the idle was still bouncing so I connected my scanner to it and found the following code had been triggered P1131 Lack Of HO2S11 Switches - Sensor Indicates Lean.

Along with that the fuel status kept changing from open loop to closed loop and then back to open loop (system fault).

Had a read up on the internet and found a few sites suggesting that it was a problem with the o2 sensor, but also found a site suggesting to not change anything and that if the fuel trims are excessivily high (read via the scanner) then the fault would be down to a vacuum leak.

After looking around and pulling and replacing a number of hoses and checking the engine readings again my fuel trims have dropped from the high 30s to between about 5-10 % and I can now start her up with no problems.

Cleaned and painted both front brake calipers this weekend and cleaned out underneath the plastic arches. Bit of mess as both the outer CV boots had split. Changed them as well.
