Guest Yvonne Ruff
Can anyone help me please. I have just bought a C Reg Mk 3 Cabriolet and the clutch pedal is very hard to push down. Any ideas what could be causing this and if it is going to be expensive to resolve? Thanks
Guest El87cabi
Make sure the clutch cable on the car is fitted properly. From my own personal expirience i'd check the pedals are fitted in the car correctly too, it took a year for me to find mine weren't quite right. If that all seems fine try a new ford clutch cable. Another thing you may want to be aware of is the mk4 self adjuster on the clutch pedal is prone to going wrong so if your bite point is an inch from the floor and most of the pedal movement after that is just travel that will make the clutch feel heavier too. It's a simple cable operated clutch so next step from here is gearbox out. Hope that helps, all the best el
Guest Yvonne Ruff
Thanks I will give all these a try. It's a MK3 by the way so will it still have a self adjuster on the clutch pedal? Yvonne
ianxr3i
The MK3 Escorts had the self adjusting ratchet fitted on the clutch pedal as well as the MK4's
