well it finally happened......my bonnet cable fell out!

 

upon realising this the scissor jack followed by the trolley were dusted off and put to work. I reached up and after much scratching and swearing realised why I couldn't locate my catch....I have a heat shield bolted on my manifold.

 

Plan B:

 

front bumper removed. I now just had enough room to get a tiny spanner to the latch plate. took 20 mins a bolt due to minimal space but patience held and BOOM the bonnet was up!

 

cable reattached and the magic cable tie put on. bumper replaced and all is well.

 

took approx 2 hours but it happened. I haven't removed the heatshield either!

 

so if this happens to you and you have a shield that blocks heat that's the course of action!
