Guest mk4stu Posted November 21, 2011 Share Posted November 21, 2011 Hey all not been on in a while. still got the cab on going resto. got a mk4 3 door estate as a run around and recently gearbox is getting noise. when im pulling off in 1st and 2nd its whining very loudly and slight whine all the time also jumping out of reverse. do you reckon its just a matter of time before it goes bang on me? ive been told either input shaft or synchro. also the thrust bearing is very noisy. in 2 minds wether to replace the box or full turbo conversion as ive got everything for conversion. gingergman Posted November 21, 2011 Share Posted November 21, 2011 if its whining then its on its way out, it wont be healthy! it should last quite a while tho depending on how its driven, mine whined for months and gradually got louder, then when i done over a ton on the M1 it blew up lol. if you have everything then why not turbo it.
