hi barry, did you see what lee put in the shout box?

ive copyd and pasted it, hope he dosent mind!

The idle speed aint adjustable. If its too high you ISV fault or possible a broken intake temp or MAF sensor .

ok now back to me lol

also a few years ago i owned a mk6, reved its nuts off all the time, was the icv, believe its a commen problem, try giving it a clean, but will prob only solve it short term!

Do as gingergman said with the valve. Also what sort of high revs has it got at idle. Should be around 950 without any electrics and around 1200 if items like aircon and heated screens etc are on. during startup in cold weather revs could be as high as 1500 but will settle. You'll need to check with a diagnotic machine to find out if sensors have failed. A decent one will tell you what readings are at MAF and intake temp sender. The intake temp sender is a common fail and it will be indicating readings of -15 degrees etc when gone which puts up fueling and engine speed. MAF sensor will give out a different reading but have same effect.

If you havent got much money neither of these items will cause damage but will increase your fuel consumption. If i had a guess i reckon probably half the zetecs in escorts have one of these faults mentioned. Its that common but mostly not noticed
