Guest chalkscars
hi i have a mk4 1986 cabby with abs. i previously had no rear brakes, after noticing the wheel cylinders were siezed decided to change them. After changing the cylinders and bleeding the brakes it has made no difference what so ever, so we decided to bleed the modulators and there was no air in the system. the brake pedal is firm and no matter how hard you press it the back wheels still go round.any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you
Guest Tuft
Not sure if mk4s have them but you could have a seized load apportioning valve. The Haynes manual says the valve needs a special tool to "reset" so not sure if it's something you can have a go at yourself.
Guest Lee81
Your best off removing the abs system and piping the brake lines as per normal mk4 escort. The abs system of belts was never very good. Without the parts around to repair it properly its going to be dangerous. Its not to involved and doesn't cost much in parts. I've heard of quite a few people that do away with the system.
