Guest Littlesue
Hello, Just wondering if anyone can help...... I have a 1998 Cabriolet and thanks to local yobs I need a new soft top for her. My question to anyone is are they easy to fit. My husband has never done one before although he is quite handy around a car. Dont want to take her to a specialist as it will cost me an arm and a leg. Any help be greatly appreciated!! Thank you :~)
Guest Graham
I have not done on on a Escort but done a few on VW Golfs but its almost the same set up with the tension wire around the back , The only problem i had was stapling the around the window you will need a good staple gun in the end i good an air one , Make sure you line the hood up squire on the car i used some chalk and measured the hood half way around and mark it with the chalk . Just take your time taking the old hood off to see how it all comes apart and you should not have any problems
Guest eskey5
My other half recently fitted one on my cabby, like your husband never fitted one before There's a walkthrough on here which my other half used to guide him http://www.escortcabrioletclub.co.uk/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/31-mk5-mk6-roof-change-walkthrough-part-1/ http://www.escortcabrioletclub.co.uk/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/32-mk5-mk6-roof-change-walkthrough-part-2/ Get your hubby to read the walkthrough and see if he fancys doing it
