Guest Chrizzlephaa Posted August 10, 2010 Share Posted August 10, 2010 Firstly, hi all! My first post right, I have a 93 si cabby and my problem is it's leaking. The passenger rear footwell gets wet if it's raining a substantial amount. I did the hose test and with the trim iff you can see it running down the wheel arch.. I took it to my mechanic who said it might be the water channel not draining the water right but I thought someone here might know better? Thanks!! My mechanic says that's to catch stray water?? Also, it's the rear footwell that gets wet, not the front, so I doubt itsbthe battery tray... badger Posted August 13, 2010 Share Posted August 13, 2010 this is a common problem on mk5's there is a water way behind the rear window panels the water from the hood runs that way if you remove the panel and use a coathanger you can clear it, just follow the rear wheel arch to the bottom i'm not 100% sure where the drain hole is but i've seen it done on a couple of cabs. You could be onto something there... Is it the little lip that runs along the bottom of the hood you're referring to? Also do you mean the drain hole could be blocked, causing water to remain in the car, rather than run out.. This would explain it. Is it normal to have water running along the wheel arch on the inside of the car? ie. behind the rear interior trim panels? Thanks alot! yes this is normal the water does drain down that way and pass through a hole at the bottom and on to the floor if its blocked it'll overflow into the rear footwell.
