Guest deanobeattie Posted May 18, 2010 Share Posted May 18, 2010 hi i am trying to wire a radio in i wire perminent live and alternate live together radio comes on but back of radio heats up gets very hot i mean very hot dont know why any ideas why this might happen . Guest shaun Posted May 18, 2010 Share Posted May 18, 2010 Hi dean what you using as a earth (thick brown wire i think on my mk4)red is live and yellow is ignition live my have these mixed up but 1 is for the memory to store your radio station etc...you may find red goes to yellow and yellow goes to red.... hope this helps and i got it right Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Lee81 Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010 As long as you have the earth and the live feeds going into the radio correctly other problems are likly to be the the radio itself. Worth checking with a multimeter that there are not other live feeds into the radio on its other cables. Eg. speaker, electric aerial wire etc. Radios do get very hot especially on the back where the cooling fins are but if its hot enough to melt plastic etc then definately something wrong Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
