Guest ragarse
where do i start? pulled the car out for her summer tour re connected the battery tried to turn her over but just a clicking noise so i figures bah battery has had it, goes up to my dads takes the battery from his mk6 tries that it turns once or twice very slowly then the clicking comes back, so now i am thinking starter motor so gives the neighbour a knock and the 2 of us give her a push, starts on the second attempt leaves her running for half an hour while i have my tea goes back out turns her off, tries from the key again just turns once like the battery is dead so the neighbour pulls his land rover round threw some jump leads on but to still no avail turns over very slowly but not enough kick to fire her up, its like something is pulling all the power from the battery, i did have this on another mk4 about 15 yrs ago but sold it on with the problem and explained it to the buyer who knew what the problem was, maybe the person who bought that cabby from me is a member here if that person is you know you got a real bargain any suggestions would be appreciated. thanx in advance! Guest Cabbytech
I had a similar problem on my then mk4 cab some years ago, the starter motor had become lazy and wanted loads of amps to turn over, would bump start every time, a new starter cured my problem, Edited April 14, 2010 by Cabbytech
RobMk4TwinCarb
A short in the starter circuit could be your problem ragarse, get another starter on it and see if it does the same. If it still does the same then check all the wiring.
Guest caffull
check the cable from the battery to the starter this will be the biggest single cable you can find sometimes the crimped on ends corroded up & dont make a good connection if this is the case clean them up & replace. it not get a new started motor
