Guest Uxb1979
Just been messing with the electrics as the rear fog wont work as the loom is broke behind the switch - thought id get a new switch and wire it myself but couldn't get a ford one at the time so wired it myself with speaker wire and ran it to the back light off of a permanent live but that threw out the lights at the back - After a bit of thought still wont work so i've disconnected it and re-connected the fog to the normal loom (still broke) and connected the passenger side light to the drivers side light so the drivers side now works but the brake light on the drivers sides now not working. - Any ideas??? Guest Cabbytech
First of all what year and model car are we talking about ? the rear fogs should only work when the lights are turned on, as the switch gets its power via the normal lights circuit, if the side light, brake light and fog light all dont work on one side only, then the common problem sounds like a bad earth, with the indicator switched on at the drivers side, get someone to press the brake pedal, and see what the lights do, and let me know. Guest Uxb1979
Hi mate - dont think thats the problem. When i bought the car all the lights were working fine apart from the rear fog. I thought id have a look at this and when i looked at it the switch was broken so i removed and cut the loom plug at the back (red clip that clips to the switch) and replaced the switch with a rocker switch but only connected it to the fog light bulb and a permanent live. (didn't work just melted the wires!!) so have left it yet i still haven't connected up the loom and still have four wires hanging at the back of the fog light switch. Since i have disconnected the loom in the first place this seems to be where i have lost my sidelight at the back on the drivers side?? Not sure where to go now with this!! I dont think it could be a bad earth i think i might have just messed witht he loom!
