Guest thomo_23
hello, i have a 96 1.8si cabby which just has the factory alarm with key and chip in it. my problem is i cant get the alarm to deactivate, all i did to set it off was lock the driver side and then unlocked the car using the passenger side, now the alarm sounds and hazards flash whenever a door, boot, bonnet is opened or ignition is switched on. i have tried locking and unlocking both doors in all kinds of different sequences with the black key and the red key but nothing works. my last resort was to unplug the horn in the boot but my hazards wont stop flashing. my car will still start and run tho. please help me in anyway, adam

Guest markeyboy
or try disconnecting the battery for a bit, it may reset it
Guest thomo_23
thanks for your replies, ive taken battery off and going to leave it overnight and hope that it will reset. if that fails i will check the wiring around barrel as you suggest, i know the bonnet and boot sensors are working. also dont know if this helps but i cant get the deadlocks to work when i lock and unlock driverside? is that maybe why alarm isnt switching off? thanks for your help, adam
Guest DaveG79
If your doors wont lock properly my dad had a similar problem with a car and all it ended up being was a bit of damp had gotten into the door closed sensor/plunger and was causing the central locking and in turn the alarm to not work properly
Guest thomo_23
hi ppl plugged the battery back in and did not reset it. however i took the door card off and examined the wires, i noticed the white plastic thing around the barrel with the wires in was a bit wobbly, i twisted it round a little bit and turned the red key to unlock position and hey presto the alarm is off!!! so just a dodgy connection was the problem. thank you for all your help guys you have saved me alot of money, cheers adam
