Guest evans
Hi guys..... got a few minor problems with the electrics on my mk6 cabby and its driving me mad. The heated from screen doesnt work. I have replaced the switch in the dash but with no joy. The rear one works ok but when you press the front switch i cant even hear the relay click and the small led doesnt light up.... any ideas!!! The heater blower used to work fine on all three settings ie 1 2 & 3 but now it only works on 1 & 2. again i have replaced the switch behind the dash cover but still nothing on setting 3..... Really need to find out why this is as its getting a tad chilly in the mornings.... If any one knows how to sort the above or has had the same problems then please let me know... Many thanks in advance Evan.
Guest Cabbytech
Hmm, well as you prob know, the heated screen will only operate with the engine running, so i would check that you have auxiliary power to the grey relay next to the battery first for the heated screen. i believe when the engine is running you should have 12v on the thin blue/black wire. if this is ok, then check the 50A fuse next to the battery that feeds to the grey heated screen relay on the thick orange /green wire, your fault must be in this area somewhere. Also check that the black wire from the relay is earthing properly. When you put your heater switch to position 3, check that you have power on the violet/yellow wire from the switch, and if so check it at the blower as well, it should be a violet wire there, if the power is missing at the blower, then it could be one of th elink bars in the fuse box that has a poor connection, personally if the power is at the switch, i would run a wire of the same size directly to the connector at th eblower and bypass the fusebox links, hope this helps regards Tony. Guest kafarske123
There has also been alot of truble whit the fuseboxes in thes cars, water finds its way into them and they corode the internal workings, you kan try to hotwire the fuses by taking a live wier from the batery or one of the other fuses and conekt it to one of the leads if the fuse for the heated window. This can also be true for the blower, however the most likley couse is the speed ontroll resistor that is mounted on top of the blower motor it self, verry eas fix, but it needs replacing, and no real way to test other than to se if power comes out of it or not at the diferent blower setings
